Workshop Held to Build Officials’ Capacity on Disaster Risk Reduction Measures


The National Workshop of CREWS Cambodia and Lao PDR Project on Cambodia Risk Profile Results and Technical Trainings on Impact-Based Forecast Modelling kicked off in Phnom Penh this morning with the participation of representatives from relevant ministries and institutions in Cambodia.

The two-day workshop was jointly organised by the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO), the CIMA Research Foundation under the Climate Risk and Early Warning Systems (CREWS) Cambodia and Lao PDR project, with the support of the Asian Disaster Preparedness Centre (ADPC), the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology (MOWRAM) and the National Committee for Disaster Management (NCDM).

The main objectives of the workshop are to present the probabilistic risk assessment and risk profile results and gather initial feedback and recommendations for use of the risk maps for sustainable development planning and disaster risk reduction measures.

iscussions interesting and valuable during the course.

This workshop will encourage participants to become actively engaged in various course sessions and discussions on enhancing public governance, she said.
