Wakaf MAIK Muamalat Targets 20 Per Cent Growth In Online Contributions

KOTA BHARU, The Wakaf MAIK Muamalat online initiative, a collaboration between Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad and the Kelantan Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIK), aims to increase its collections by 20 per cent this year.

Bank Muamalat’s Social Finance Department Head Zaharuddin Alias said that this digital transformation, facilitated through a Quick Response (QR) code, enabled the public to make online wakaf contributions easily, quickly, and transparently.

“In line with Bank Negara Malaysia’s (BNM) call to support a more vibrant digital financial services landscape, Bank Muamalat has introduced digital wakaf services in five states, namely Kelantan, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, and Pahang.”

“The contributions received through Wakaf MAIK Muamalat will be channelled towards wakaf projects in the education, health, and economic empowerment sectors, including sponsoring selected ‘asnaf’ (zakat recipients) to participate in Bank Muamalat’s iTEKAD entrepreneurship programme,” he said.

He
made these remarks at the launch of the new logo and QR code for Wakaf MAIK Muamalat, held in conjunction with Wakaf MAIK Month here today. The event was officiated by MAIK Deputy President Dr Hasnan Ramli and Bank Muamalat’s Retail Banking Director Mohammad Zalman Jalil.

Commenting further, Zaharuddin said the bank was committed to leading the cash wakaf agenda through collaborations with state Islamic religious councils to empower the ummah’s progress and improve lives.

“In Kelantan, Wakaf MAIK Muamalat was launched in 2018, with collections exceeding RM2.3 million. To date, over RM932,526 has been allocated to wakaf projects benefiting the people of Kelantan,” he added.
