Vanuatu Supports Cambodia as Mine-Free World Summit Host

Consul General of the Republic of Vanuatu in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, H.E. Dr. Henry Savarimuthu, supports Cambodia’s role as the host of the Siem Reap-Angkor Summit on a Mine-Free World.

The consul general underlined his support in a courtesy meeting on Mar. 18 with H.E. Dr. Ly Thuch, Senior Minister and First Vice President of the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA) at his office in Phnom Penh.

H.E. Dr. Henry Savarimuthu confirmed that Vanuatu will attend the Siem Reap-Angkor Summit on a Mine-Free World in November 2024.

On behalf of the Royal Government of Cambodia, H.E. Dr. Ly Thuch thanked Vanuatu for its support for Cambodia in hosting the historic gathering.

He continued that Cambodia, as the 2024 President of the Ottawa Convention, wanted to see the Pacific region become mine-free and is liaising with other island nations, including Tonga, the Marshall Islands, and Micronesia, to be state parties to the anti-personnel and mines pact, too.
