A total of 391 investment projects with a combined capital of about US$7.6 billion were endorsed by the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) between September 2023 and July 2024.
The figures were shared by Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, in his special statement on the ‘One-Year Achievements of the Royal Government of the 7th Legislature of the National Assembly,’ broadcasted live this evening.
Most of the investments were foreign direct investments from the U.S., China, Japan, Canada, South Korea, Sweden, the European Union, Australia, etc. and ASEAN member countries, he pointed out.
According to H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and CDC First Vice President, the 391 approved projects can generate a total of 340,000 job opportunities.
Compared to the last 12 months of the previous government, there were an increase by 75 percent in terms of the number of approved projects and a surge of 161 percent in terms of investment capital, he said
while presiding over the inauguration ceremony of KY iCenter and the official launching ceremony of Picasso Sky Gemme in Phnom Penh on Aug. 22.
The CDC first vice president attributed the sharp rise to peace, political and macroeconomic stability, better legal frameworks and regulations, and the openness of Cambodian economy.
This reflects the investors’ confidence on the Royal Government of Cambodia led by Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, underlined H.E. Sun Chanthol.
