Mr. Masahiko Metoki, Director General of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), has reaffirmed the UPU’s continued support for the postal sector in Cambodia.
While paying a courtesy call on Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh this afternoon, Mr. Masahiko Metoki praised the progress and success of the project to modernise postal operations in Cambodia with the support from UPU and Japan.
The UPU director general attributed the success to Cambodia’s commitment in improving the sector, and considered the Kingdom as a model country in an effort to modernise the postal sector.
Mr. Masahiko Metoki also thanked the Royal Government of Cambodia for hosting the 2024 Asian-Pacific Postal Union Executive Council (APPU-EC) Meeting on Aug. 12-14 in Siem Reap province, which reflects Cambodia’s attention to the importance of postal network building.
In reply, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet spoke highly of the UPU’s cooperation in Cambodia’s postal modernisation, whic
h contributes to the country’s socio-economic development.
The Cambodian Premier also encouraged the UPU to continue to suppor and share its experience and know-how related to technology and capabilities in the postal sector with Cambodia.
