Phnom Penh: Two rare Siamese crocodiles, approximately five to six months old, along with their mother, have been discovered in the Srepok River area.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the wildlife conservation organization WWF Cambodia announced this significant discovery on January 20. The announcement followed a five-day expedition conducted by a joint team to the Srepok River location. The team comprised rangers from the Provincial Department of Environment, members of the local community, and other relevant counterparts.
The expedition was led by WWF Cambodia’s biodiversity research and monitoring team, with the primary objective to monitor the condition of the crocodiles and search for new hatchlings in the area. The team also focused on removing illegal fishing gear and addressing other threats that could endanger the lives of these crocodiles.
