According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Chea Vandet, Minister of Post and Telecommunications of the Kingdom of Cambodia, H.E. Mrs. Cham Nimul, Minister of Commerce, and Mr. Allen Zhang, Vice President of Alibaba Cloud (Singapore) Private Limited, presided over the signing of the ‘Memorandum of Understanding on the Development of E-Commerce Platform, Promotion of Digital Literacy and Marketing Skills’ in Phnom Penh on January 25.
The MoU focuses on four areas of cooperation: establishing an e-commerce platform, providing training and capacity building in trade, business and digital marketing, and improving infrastructure and logistics to boost the efficiency of the domestic trade market and connect Cambodia’s trade to international trade markets.
This cooperation is a step towards contributing to the promotion of the e-commerce sector for Cambodia, enhancing the potential of entrepreneurs and technicians in domestic trade and digital business to promote the effective and efficient development of the digital economy and society for Cambodia.
Through the MoU, the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications will further support the trade sector by organising training courses for local entrepreneurs to promote the successful use of digital trade platforms.
It will strengthen collaboration between the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications and the Ministry of Commerce on logistics and transport management through the SuperApp joint digital platform to ensure smooth and transparent domestic and international transport.
The MoU with Alibaba Cloud (Singapore) Private Limited will help connect Cambodian products to digital markets, creating a significant business opportunity for Cambodian entrepreneurs, directly reaching millions of interested customers for Cambodian products, and allowing them to expand their business operations and address the challenges of accessing new markets, H.E. Mrs. Cham Nimul said.
It will also create a new digital business environment, fostering inclusive participation, providing opportunities and increasing leverage for local entrepreneurs and businesses, especially small-scale family businesses, informal economy entrepreneurs or other businesses, who will have equal opportunities to showcase and sell their products and talents to local customers and develop their businesses globally, added the commerce minister.
