TotalEnergies Firm Interested in Reducing Carbon Emissions in Cambodia


Phnom Penh: TotalEnergies, a multinational integrated energy and petroleum company of the French Republic, is interested in reducing carbon emissions in Cambodia. The intention was revealed by the firm’s president, Mr. Dinah Kumar, during a meeting with H.E. Dr. Eang Sophalleth, Cambodian Minister of Environment, in Phnom Penh on Mar. 17.



According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Dr. Eang Sophalleth welcomed the intention of TotalEnergies to participate in environmental conservation, contributing to Cambodia’s endeavour to become a carbon-neutral country by 2050. The two also discussed sustainable investments in renewable energy, including investment in Cambodia’s REDD+ project and developing Nature-based Solutions (NBS).



Mr. Dinah Kumar appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of Environment as well as the Royal Government of Cambodia, which has put in policies, legal frameworks, and created a favourable environment for Cambodia towards sustainable development and environmental harmony.
