Thai Ambassador Reiterates Commitment to Promoting Bilateral Cooperation

Phnom Penh: H.E. Tull Traisorat, the newly appointed Thai Ambassador to Cambodia, has commended Cambodia’s continued progress and reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to expanding mutually beneficial cooperation. The Thai Ambassador emphasized the commitment during a courtesy call on H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, at the ministry’s office in Phnom Penh.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Cambodian top diplomat congratulated the Thai diplomat on his appointment and expressed satisfaction with the steady growth of Cambodia-Thailand ties, underpinned by increased engagements across sectors. They recalled key high-level visits in recent years, including the official visit of Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister Hun Manet to Thailand in February 2024, when the relations were elevated to Strategic Partnership. H.E. Prak Sokhonn looked forward to welcoming the visit of H.E. Mrs. Paetongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, to Cambodia, which will further solidify the enduring bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two neighbors.

They agreed to accelerate the finalization of the Joint Plan of Action under the Strategic Partnership and discussed the preparation for the 12th Meeting Commission on Bilateral Cooperation between Thailand and Cambodia to be held in Thailand later this year. The Deputy Prime Minister and the Envoy emphasized the significance of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations, marked by a series of commemorative events, including the Friendship Football Match and the Two Kingdom Run 2025 across the Cambodian-Thai Friendship Bridge (Stung Bot-Ban Nong Ian) in March.

They exchanged views on deepening cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, and law enforcement, and commended efforts of the relevant authorities of both countries to combat transnational crimes, especially online scams. H.E. Prak Sokhonn extended condolences on the loss of lives in the recent earthquake in Thailand and thanked Thai authorities for their assistance to the Cambodian nationals affected by this disaster and for waiving re-entry visa fees for Cambodian workers during Khmer New Year. H.E. Deputy Prime Minister also expressed appreciation for the Thai government’s support for human capital development in Cambodia through scholarships and training.
