Takeo Province to Host 9th River Festival 2025 in March


Takeo: Takeo Province has been selected as the host for the 9th River Festival, scheduled to take place in March 2025. This announcement brings anticipation for an event expected to draw numerous visitors and showcase the province’s rich culture and traditions.



According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the River Festival is a significant event aimed at promoting tourism and cultural heritage in the region. It is organized annually in different provinces along the rivers of Cambodia to highlight the natural beauty and cultural diversity of these areas. The 2025 festival in Takeo is expected to feature a variety of activities, including traditional performances, cultural exhibitions, and local cuisine, providing an immersive experience for attendees.



The festival not only aims to boost tourism but also to enhance local economic development by promoting the unique offerings of the host province. With its historical sites and scenic landscapes, Takeo provides an ideal backdrop for the festival, promising an engaging experience for both local and international visitors.



Ministry of Tourism said that Takeo southern province will host the River Festival 2025, the 9th of its kind, from Mar. 21 to 23.`An inter-ministerial meeting to prepare for the upcoming event was held in Takeo province on Feb. 19 under the chairmanship of H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, with the participation of H.E. Vei Samnang, Governor of Takeo province, representatives of relevant ministries and institutions and the private sector. `As part of the tourism diversification campaign through new events and initiatives, the festival will feature arts performances, exhibitions, and cultural and sports activities to attract visitors to the riparian province.`The event is also an opportunity to promote public engagement in the sustainable development of river resources.`The River Festival is organised every year on a rotation basis by the riparian provinces. The first event took place in Kratie province in 2015, followed by events in Stung Treng, Kampong Cham and Thbong Khmum, Kandal, Kampong Chhnang, Battam
bang, Kampong Thom, and Siem Reap.`
