Syed Yazid Elected As New KLFA President For 2024-2028 Term


Syed Yazid Syed Omar has been elected to lead the Kuala Lumpur Football Association (KLFA) after winning the presidency at the association’s 35th Congress for the 2024-2028 session held here today.

Syed Yazid, who is also the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) Exco, received 15 votes, beating his challenger, KLFA acting president Datuk Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid who got 12 votes.

The former KLFA vice-president will lead the association for a period of four years until 2028.

The KLFA was previously led by Khalid Abdul Samad who relinquished the position in March.

Meanwhile, Datuk Kamarudin Hassan won and Datuk Sri Wong Yeon Chai were elected for the posts of two Deputy Presidents after garnering 18 and 15 votes respectively.

The posts of four vice presidents was won by former international Datuk Ramlan Askolani (17 votes), Nor Asyikin Jaafar (15) Datuk Sham Shamrat (15) and Datuk Hisamudin Yahaya (14).

Meanwhile, newly elected president Syed Yazid said the top most agenda for the newly elected office
bearers was to look into the outstanding wages of players.

‘I have yet to see the issue of outstanding wages of players. I have to first see all details and documents involved in the matter.

‘People want to see the Kuala Lumpur City FC (KL City) team back to its good old days, both in terms of administration, management and financially,’ he told reporters after the KLFA AGM, here today.

Syed urged players from KL City to have patience since the financial position of the The City Boys need to be resolved first.
