South Korea Firm Interested in Cambodia’s Recycling Plant

Dahan Corporation of the Republic of Korea is interested in building a recycling plant in Cambodia.

The intention was revealed by the firm’s president Mr. Kim Sangyoung during a meeting with H.E. Dr. Eang Sophalleth, Minister of Environment in Phnom Penh, on Oct. 9.

H.E. Dr. Eang Sophalleth supported an investment that will be well in line with Cambodia’s efforts to address plastic pollution and promote a green environment.

He said that addressing plastic waste is a prior task of the Royal Government of Cambodia, and the ministry has also put forth its “Circular Strategy on Environment,” built on “clean, green, and sustainable,” to increase the forest coverage for the country to be carbon neutral by 2050.

The ministry launched the campaign “Today, I don’t Use Plastic Bags” in 2023, attracting over 9.5 million participants, and the “Cambodia Beauty, Khmer Can Do” campaign in 2024, with the participation of over 2.5 million people to minimise the use of plastic in the country, he added.
