A total of 12,404 sport delegates from 11 ASEAN countries have registered for the 32nd SEA Games and the 12th ASEAN Para Games to be hosted by Cambodia in May and June, respectively.
The figures were emphasised by H.E. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism and Permanent Vice President of the Cambodian SEA Games-ASEAN Para Games Organising Committees (CAMSOC-CAMAPGOC) in the annual get-together between Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and national athletes here in Phnom Penh on April 3.
Of the total number, he pointed out, 1,158 are Cambodian sports delegates, 113 are from Brunei Darussalam, 1,802 from Indonesia, 656 from Laos, 1,532 from Malaysia, 694 from Myanmar, 1,342 from the Philippines, 1,228 from Singapore, 1,985 from Thailand, 171 from Timor-Leste, and 1,663 from Vietnam.
As planned, more than 3,500 sports delegates will be accommodated in sport village, over 2,000 in hotels up from four stars near their competition venues, and more than 2,000 others at nice hotels in the provinces where there are sports competitions.
In Phnom Penh, there are three main competition venues – the Morodok Techo National Stadium which will host the opening and closing ceremonies and 9 kinds of sports’ events; the Olympic National Stadium which will hold the events of 10 types of sports; and the Chroy Changvar International Convention and Exhibition Centre, 13 types of sports.
A total of 36 sports and a demonstration sport (teqball) have been listed for the 32nd SEA Games and 13 for the 12th ASEAN Para Games.
Cambodia will host the 32nd SEA Games and the 12th ASEAN Para Games from May 5 to 17, 2023 and from June 1 to 10, 2023 respectively, under the motto “Sport: Live in Peace”.
