The Ministry of Tourism in cooperation with the Embassy of India in Cambodia will host the ‘Cambodia-India Tourism Forum 2024′ in Siem Reap province, home to the famous Angkor temples, on Oct. 31.
Themed “Potentials of Indian Tourism Market for Cambodia’s Tourism: Opportunities and Preparedness/Readiness,” the forthcoming forum aims to promote tourism and cultural exchange, especially to enhance cooperation between Cambodia and India, boost tourists’ flow and attract more Indian investors to invest in Cambodia’s tourism, as well as contribute to the promotion of the “Cambodia-India Tourism Year 2024” and “Visit Siem Reap Year 2024”, said the Ministry of Tourism in an announcement AKP received this afternoon.
At the same time, the source underlined, this forum will also provide an opportunity for tourism experts, private sectors, and related stakeholders from the two countries to build network, exchange ideas and experiences, and seek for joint strategies to contribute to the development of sustainable and r
esponsible tourism.
Figures from the Ministry of Tourism showed that Cambodia welcomed 20,560 Indian tourists in the first three months of 2024, a year-on-year increase of 25 percent.
Tourism is one of the four pillars supporting Cambodia’s economy, in addition to garment, footwear, and travel goods exports; agriculture; and the construction and real estate sectors.
The Kingdom is well known for her world cultural heritage sites, namely the Angkor Archaeological Park in Siem Reap province, the Preah Vihear Temple and Koh Ker Temple in Preah Vihear province, and the Sambor Prei Kuk Archaeological Site in Kampong Thom province.
Besides, the country has a 450-kilometre-long pristine coastline stretching across four southwestern provinces of Preah Sihanouk, Kampot, Kep and Koh Kong.
