Siem Reap Hosts 7th Governing Board Meeting of SEAMEO TED


Siem Reap province is hosting the 7th Governing Board Meeting (GBM) of the SEAMEO Regional Centre for Technical Education Development (7th GBM of SEAMEO LTD) from Oct. 17 to 18.

The meeting attracted the participation of representatives from the 11 SEAMEO regional governing board member countries, including host Cambodia, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam.

Addressing the opening of the meeting, H.E. Kolpheng Vatthana, Under Secretary of State at the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports, warmly welcomed all participating delegations, stressing the event reflects the centre’s core role in fostering technical education and vocational training across the region.

The undersecretary of state emphasised that digital skills drive competitiveness in today’s economy, and TVET centres, high schools, and colleges must make the best use of the new technologies to build pathways for quality education.

He also briefed the participant
s on the Royal Government of Cambodia’s Pentagonal Strategy Phase 1, focusing on human development, roads, electricity, water, and technology.

Guided by the strategy, the ministry is undergoing in-depth education education, focusing on model school development, teacher capacity development, digital, technology, and science education, promotion of study health, and youth development in accordance with the 21st century’s skills.

The meeting is organised annually to review achievements and the centre’s policies to promote the region’s education quality.
