Dr. Vannarith, who is also Vice Chairman of the Spokesperson, Quick Reaction and Strategy Unit, emphasised that, through the National Assembly President, Cambodia sent a clear message about the value of peace. Cambodia wishes to see peace in our world and our region.

“ASEAN has a population of nearly 700 million people. It is a great honour for Cambodia to attend the AIPA General Assembly because we have delivered a message that is direct and important: Cambodia is a small country, but it has a big voice. Our big voice is for peace, and we seek peace through parliamentary diplomacy and multilateral cooperation,” Dr. Chheang Vannarith sa

During the AIPA General Assembly, Samdech Khuon Sudary delivered a keynote address to the Women Parliamentarians of AIPA Forum and addressed the 1st Plenary Session of the Assembly. Both speeches were highly appreciated.

At the Women’s Parliamentarians Forum, she called for women’s greater participation leadership and decision-making, especially to increase the number of women in politics. Samdech stressed that women not only play an important role in promoting peace, justice, inclusion, and development, but also that women’s contributions are essential to strengthening human security.

Dr. Chheang Vannarith commended the Lao National Assembly and the AIPA Secretariat for setting up the forum for women parliamentarians. This was one of the significant Lao achievements in organising the General Assembly, he said.
