Senate President to Further Support Cambodia-Iran’s Economic and Trade Partnership Initiative


Phnom Penh: Cambodian Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has expressed his support to the Governments of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Islamic Republic of Iran to promote their economic and trade partnership. Samdech Techo Hun Sen voiced the support when he received H.E. Ali Akbar Nazari, Hanoi-based Ambassador of Iran to Cambodia, at the Senate Palace here this morning.



According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, during the courtesy meeting, Samdech Techo Hun Sen encouraged the two countries’ governments to enhance their partnership on economy and trade by establishing the Joint Economic and Trade Commission. This commission will serve as a mechanism for exchanging views on the two sectors as well as other sectors. Additionally, the Cambodian Senate President recommended that Iran focus on strategic cooperation by strengthening ties with ASEAN, other countries in the region, and in the framework of regional economic agreements such as the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).



At the same time, Samdech Techo Hun Sen reaffirmed Cambodia’s stance regarding developments in the Middle East and encouraged the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of both nations to promote the consultation mechanism to discuss and exchange views on regional and international issues of common interest. For his part, H.E. Ali Akbar Nazari highly valued Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s role in leading Cambodia towards peace, stability, and prosperity in all domains.



H.E. Ambassador emphasised Iran’s readiness to support Cambodia in the development and modernisation of the public health sector and strengthen cooperation in the fields of technology, engineering, industry, and tourism.
