The President of the Cambodian Senate has received the Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to Cambodia for a discussion, mainly on investment, trade, and cyber security cooperation.

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen met with the Philippine Ambassador, H.E. Flerida Ann Camille P. Mayo, at the Senate Palace here on July 8.

H.E. Flerida Ann Camille P. Mayo updated Samdech Techo Hun Sen that there are currently Filipino companies operating in Cambodia in the health, education, and food processing industries.

She highlighted that during her tenure in Cambodia, she will work to further expand bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, education, health, and military relations.

The Philippine diplomat also requested that Samdech Senate President continue supporting the Filipino community, which has been working and living in Cambodia for many years, mostly English teachers, company staff, and religious workers.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen reaffirmed that Cambodia will continue to take care of and
protect the interests of the Filipino community working and living in Cambodia.

He added that Cambodia and the Philippines must take advantage of the economic potential of the ASEAN Free Trade Agreement (AFTA) and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP).

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also encouraged more Philippine investments, particularly in the rice production chain in Cambodia, and urged direct flight connections between the two nations.

The two also touched on bilateral cooperation to combat cybercrime, online fraud, and human trafficking.
