Senate President Highlights Connection Between Peace and Water Festival Celebrations.

Phnom Penh: Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate and President of the Supreme Privy Council to His Majesty the King, has emphasized the crucial role of peace in Cambodia, stating that without peace, the Water Festival would not be possible.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Samdech Techo Hun Sen highlighted the significance of peace in enabling the celebration of the Water Festival and other major festivities in Cambodia. In a message shared on his official social media networks, he encouraged citizens to participate in the festivities, which include boat racing, visiting exhibition booths, and enjoying concerts and art performances in public parks across Phnom Penh.

The Water Festival, celebrated this year from November 14-16, is one of Cambodia’s most vibrant events. Thousands gather in the capital to witness the main attractions: boat racing, Loy Pratip (the display of decorative lighted boats), Sampeas Preah Khe (Moon Festival), and Ok Ambok (a traditional dish of roas
ted and crushed glutinous rice served with banana or coconut juice).

This year, 348 boats from various regions have registered for the races, and 36 Pratip from different ministries and institutions will glide along the river in front of the Royal Palace. The Water Festival not only signifies the end of the monsoon season but also expresses gratitude to nature for fruitful harvests and honors Cambodia’s rich cultural heritage and historical legacy.
