Siem Reap: A seminar on ‘Strengthening the Potential of Cambodian Cashew Nuts’ was held on Feb. 28 at the Siem Reap Provincial Department of Commerce with an aim to promote the production chain of cashew nuts. H.E. Samheng Bora, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce, presided over the seminar with the participation of Mr. Yun Linne, Deputy Governor of Siem Reap province.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, this seminar was a side event of the 18th Khmer Products, Fruits and Vegetables Exhibition 2025. It aimed to strengthen the capacity of the production chain and the reputation of Cambodian cashew nuts to be recognized both nationally and internationally. The event also sought to promote cashew market opportunities to relevant parties, especially processors and exporters.
The seminar served as a platform for promoting the implementation of the national policy on cashew nuts and recommendations aimed at boosting the development of the Cambodian cashew nut sector to be more competitive and sustainable. Participants were provided with valuable information to develop themselves and learn from the successful experiences of exporting companies.
Speaking at the workshop’s opening ceremony, H.E. Samheng Bora emphasized that the event was a platform to enhance closer cooperation between the public and private sectors, combined with trade facilitation, matchmaking forums, and promotion events. He noted that these factors will contribute as important driving forces toward achieving the goal of transforming Cambodia into a stable and reliable major cashew producer and exporter globally in the future.
Following the event, H.E. Samheng Bora presided over the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Cambodia Cashew Federation, represented by its President Mr. An Dara, and Control Union (Cambodia) Co., Ltd., represented by its General Manager Mr. Dilum Wijenayake. Under the MoU, both parties will collaborate to improve international food safety, management systems, and value-added certifications for members of the Cambodia Cashew Federation.
