Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister Outlines Six Key Priorities for Cambodia’s Foreign Policy


Phnom Penh: Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, articulated six pivotal priorities for Cambodia’s foreign policy during the closing ceremony of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC)’s Annual Review Conference.



According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the six key priorities include: enhancing bilateral relationships by fostering mutual trust, advancing multilateralism through active global engagement, and reinforcing ASEAN’s centrality to maintain regional stability. Moreover, the priorities focus on promoting economic and cultural diplomacy, strengthening public diplomacy to combat misinformation, and improving the operational efficiency of Cambodia’s diplomatic service.



Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also praised the MFAIC’s efforts throughout 2024 and acknowledged its commitment to recalibrating Cambodia’s diplomatic strategies. He highlighted the importance of adapting to the evolving global landscape marked by economic competition and security challenges.



The Prime Minister underscored the significance of a proactive foreign policy to safeguard Cambodia’s core national interests, including its independence, sovereignty, and socio-economic progress. He reiterated the country’s commitment to an independent foreign policy based on international law and the United Nations Charter.



The conference also saw the launch of “The Taste of Angkor II,” a new publication celebrating Cambodia’s rich culinary heritage, following the success of its first edition.
