Samdech Techo Hun Sen Recovers from COVID-19 and Resumes Official Duties

Phnom Penh: Cambodia’s Acting Head of State, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, has announced his full recovery from COVID-19 and has resumed his regular duties, including hosting both national and international guests.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, in a statement released on his official Facebook page, Samdech Techo Hun Sen confirmed that he has tested negative for COVID-19 twice, with the most recent test conducted earlier today.

He emphasised that this marks his second recovery from the virus and expressed his determination to avoid a third infection. ‘Yesterday, I tested negative for COVID-19, but I still refrained from participating in the see-off ceremony for His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen-Mother as they departed for Beijing this morning,’ said Samdech Techo.

He added that he remained cautious due to lingering symptoms and the risk of transmitting the virus to Their Majesties and other leaders. ‘Two hours ago, I took another test, which also came back negative, both my doctors and I have concluded that I am now free of COVID-19,’ he wrote. ‘I resume my normal work schedule, including meetings with national and international guests.’

‘This is my second recovery from COVID-19, and I am committed to ensuring there will not be a third.’ The Acting Head of State’s announcement comes as a reassurance to the public, reflecting his cautious approach to health and safety while maintaining his leadership responsibilities.
