Phnom Penh: Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, Honorary President of the Supreme Privy Council to His Majesty the King, received H.E. Nguyen Minh Vu, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Kingdom of Cambodia, at the January 7 Palace here this morning. The meeting concentrated on the strengthening of the longstanding relationship between the two neighbouring nations.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Samdech Heng Samrin extended his congratulations to Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu on his appointment, expressing confidence that his tenure would further solidify the traditional bonds of friendship, solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Cambodia and Vietnam. He also acknowledged Vietnam’s recent developmental strides under the leadership of H.E. General Secretary To Lam, expressing his belief in the continued progress of the Vietnamese people.
For his part, H.E. Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu conveyed his gratitude for the warm reception and lauded Cambodia’s remarkable achievements in national development, particularly its sustained peace and stability. He expressed optimism about Cambodia’s prospects, highlighting its ambitions to achieve upper-middle-income status by 2030 and high-income status by 2050 under the Cambodian People’s Party leadership. The ambassador provided an overview of Vietnam’s socio-economic development, emphasizing the country’s ongoing reforms aimed at accelerating the national progress and achieving high-income status by 2045.
He acknowledged Samdech Heng Samrin’s significant contributions to fostering the bilateral relationship and sought his support in enhancing cooperation between the two countries. In response, Samdech Heng Samrin, who is also Honorary President of the ruling Cambodia’s People’s Party, pledged his support for Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu’s diplomatic mission and extended his best wishes for its success. He also conveyed his greetings to Vietnamese leaders, including H.E. General Secretary To Lam, H.E. President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister H.E. Pham Minh Chinh, and National Assembly Chairman H.E. Tran Thanh Man.
