‘Run for Charity’ Event Raises 100 Million Riel for Cambodia Kantha Bopha Foundation


Phnom Penh: The “Run for Charity” event, spearheaded by the Ministry of Information in cooperation with ASEANTOP News and other partners, successfully raised 100 million Riel (Cambodian currency, roughly US$25,000) for the Cambodia Kantha Bopha Foundation, which supports the health of Cambodian children.



According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the event was held at Eco Park, Grand Star Platinum Eco Collection, Borey Peng Huoth, Boeung Snor, in Phnom Penh early this morning. It drew some 1,700 participants from 17 different nationalities. Runners included Ministry of Information’s management and officials, private sector representatives, media personnel, and individual citizens.



H.E. Neth Pheaktra, alongside his spouse Lok Chumteav Tuy Serey Ratanak, presided over the event, which featured 4.4 km and 6.6 km races. “This event aims to raise funds for the Cambodia Kantha Bopha Foundation and promote social well-being,” stated H.E. Neth Pheaktra during the prize-awarding ceremony. “Cambodia’s peace and development have enabled us to organise such events, demonstrating that ‘Sports Thrive in Peace.'”



The minister encouraged citizens, particularly youth, to incorporate sports into their daily lives for health and social benefits. He expressed gratitude to all participants, sponsors, and contributors for their support.



Soth Muny, a company employee who completed the 4.4 km race, expressed her satisfaction with the event. “It was a unique experience to run alongside government officials and such a large crowd,” she said. “I hope this event continues to inspire more people to participate.” The event also featured 20 product exhibition booths.
