Royal Government Expresses Condolences over the Loss of a Cambodian Student in Israel-Hamas Fighting

The Royal Government of Cambodia has expressed its deepest condolences over the loss of a Cambodian student in the fighting between Israel and Hamas forces and will continue to closely monitor and take necessary measures to provide safety for the Cambodian nationals in Israel.

“The Royal Government is deeply saddened to learn that a Cambodian student (out of 450 Cambodians present in Israel) has been killed in clashes between Israeli and Hamas forces since Oct. 7, 2023. The Royal Government would like to express our deepest condolences for the loss of the life of the Cambodian student and extend our deepest sympathy to the bereaved family,” read the Royal Government’s statement made public this morning.

Immediately after receiving the news of the fighting and following the high recommendation of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Cambodian competent authorities have maintained regular contact with the Government and relevant authorities of Israel, added the statement, stressing, “So far, our team has been in contact with most Cambodian students to monitor their safety.”

The Royal Government also reaffirmed to continue to closely follow the situation in Israel and to work closely with the Israeli authorities to ensure the safety of the Cambodian nationals there.

Besides, the Royal Government re-appealed to the Cambodian nationals in Israel to contact via WhatsApp or Telegram at +85586881688 so that the Royal Government can receive information about their safety as well as provide timely assistance if necessary, and to adhere to the instructions of the Israeli authorities to maintain their safety.

Israel-Hamas fighting erupted on Oct. 7, 2023, leaving hundreds of dead and wounded on both sides.
