Royal Cambodian Army Commander Conducts Thorough Inspection of Border Troops


Phnom Penh: Senior General Mao Sophan, the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and Commander of the Royal Cambodian Army, along with Lieutenant General Huot Chheang and senior army officials, conducted an inspection of military units stationed along the Cambodia-Thailand border from February 25 to March 2. This inspection aimed at reviewing operational progress and boosting troop morale in the 1st and 2nd direction border regions.



According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the delegation received a warm welcome from key military figures, including Lieutenant General Srey Doek, Lieutenant General Pov Heng, and Brigadier General Nak Vong, who are responsible for various strategic areas along the border. These commanders expressed gratitude for Senior General Mao Sophan’s visit, highlighting the army’s commitment to protecting Cambodia’s territorial integrity.



During the inspection, Senior General Mao Sophan commended the troops for their dedication and achievements in safeguarding their assigned areas. He emphasized the importance of establishing a clear, stable, and robust Cambodia-Thailand boundary and provided strategic directives to enhance the military’s role in maintaining national sovereignty.



The visit included stops at significant border posts, such as Marker No. 1 and the Preah Vihear, Ta Moan, and Ta Krabei Temples, where Senior General Mao Sophan engaged directly with the stationed forces. He encouraged the troops to maintain positive relations with their Thai counterparts, avoid provocations, and rely on the joint Cambodia-Thailand boundary commission for resolving disputes.



The inspection underscores Cambodia’s continuous efforts to reinforce security and cooperation along its northwestern boundary.
