Restoration of West Top Temple’s Platform Structure is Undergoing

The restoration team of APSARA National Authority in collaboration with Nara National Research Institute for Cultural Properties of Japan is continuing to restore the damaged platform structure of West Top Temple after the temple’s central tower has been restored, the authority said in a news release this morning.

The platform structure, which originally had a tiled wooden shed (now crumbling and only traces remain), is 7.50 metres wide and 17.50 metres long, the same source said, adding that this temple has become a temple dedicated to Buddhism since the post-Angkor era.

Mr. Lam Sopheak, who is in charge of the repair work, said that in this restoration project, the whole structure will be removed to strengthen the foundation and the lower structure to assemble the platform to its original state, and the restoration work is scheduled to be completed in the next three months.
