Restoration of Nguyen Dynasty’s palace to be completed by year end

The restoration of Thai Hoa Palace, a prominent palace of the former Nguyen dynasty in the Hue Imperial Citadel of the central province of Thua Thien-Hue, is expected to be completed by the end of 2024. The project began November 2021 with a total investment capial of nearly 129 billion VND (over 5.68 million USD). Thai Hoa was built in 1805 during the reign of King Gia Long (1762-1820) of the Nguyen Dynasty. The palace symbolised the power of the Nguyen Dynasty – the king’s golden throne was placed inside – and served as a venue for many significant imperial events such as coronations, kings’ birthdays and receptions for foreign ambassadors. The Palace was recognised as a documentary heritage in the Asia-Pacific region by UNESCO.
