The Village-Commune/Sangkat Safety Policy has helped maintain public order and security, enabling drivers to foster livelihoods in Sangkat O’ Russey, Phnom Penh.
A resident living in Sangkat O’ Russey, Mr. Im Samoeun, said that he appreciated the safe village-commune policy implemented by his local authorities.
With that, the security of his community has been well secured, allowing the people to work and run their businesses without fear.
Another resident, Ms. Phon Lina, said the policy acknowledged that it has effectively addressed crimes in her area.
She added that it also promotes very accessible and transparent services at the One Window Service.
Mr. Ieng Sok Khim, Chief of Sangkat O’ Russey, shared that his office has been very committed to implementing the policy since its rollout in August 2010.
He recalled that the policy has five main objectives: reduce robbery; reduce illicit drug production, distribution, and use; prevent prostitution and human trafficking; eliminate domestic violence; and eliminate gangsters, gambling, and the illegal use of weapons.
