Rare sea turtles protected at Nui Chua National Park

The Nui Chua National Park (in the core of Nui Chua World Biosphere Reserve) in the south central province of Ninh Thuan is among the rare destinations in Vietnam where sea turtles lay their eggs. The park sees a population of sea turtles including: green, loggerhead, and hawksbill sea turtles, with only green turtles coming during nesting season in recent years. These are all endangered species listed in the Vietnam Red Book and the World Red List (IUCN). From 2014 to early August 2024, Nui Chua National Park recorded 530 mother turtles coming to the beach to lay their eggs with 173 successful nestings, and 11,349 baby turtles released into the sea.
