Preah Sihanouk Province to Become Cambodia’s Logistics Hub, Says PM


Phnom Penh: Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has announced that Preah Sihanouk province is set to become the country’s logistics hub. He thus urged local residents to prepare for the opportunities this transformation will bring.



According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, speaking at the inauguration ceremony of a new school building and related infrastructure at Hun Sen Veal Rinh High School in Preah Sihanouk province, the Premier revealed that the province will receive an additional US$1 billion for the development of its deep-sea port, stressing that this investment aims to strengthen Preah Sihanouk’s role as Cambodia’s logistics hub.



At the same event, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet emphasised the importance of human capital development in ensuring the province’s successful transition. ‘Preah Sihanouk province will be Cambodia’s logistics hub. We will need a skilled workforce, so local residents must be ready for this opportunity,’ he stated. The Prime Minister also encouraged local residents, particularly young people, to focus on education to contribute to the province’s future growth and development.



H.E. Mang Sineth, Governor of Preah Sihanouk province, reported that the coastal province currently hosts nearly 4,000 factories, service centres, and business operations, employing 127,400 workers and employees. These include 290 investment projects with a combined capital of approximately US$2.85 billion. There are in total 12 special economic zones in Preah Sihanouk province, of which five are operational, two are under construction, and five are not yet active, pointed out the governor.
