The Cambodian Prime Minister highlights the importance of strong national unity and good moral, traditional, and cultural education with the highest responsibility among all families of his fellow Cambodians.

Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet sent out the message in his open letter circulated recently to mark the International Day of Families to fall on May 15.

He added that Cambodia celebrates the International Day of Families 2024 under the theme of ‘Families as Firm Foundations in Socioeconomic Development’ to call on all individual families’ meaningful contribution to the country’s envisioned growth aspirations as an upper middle-income economy by 2030 and a higher-income economy by 2050.

The mentioned qualities and objectives cannot be fully achieved without the continued commitment and engagement of every Cambodian family, as well as the government ministries and institutions in charge and development partners.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet highly commented and expressed gratitude to all families
of his fellow Cambodians, particularly grandparents, parents, and elder brothers and sisters for their priceless sacrifice in raising their grandchildren, children, as well as younger brothers and sisters as dependable next pillars of the nation.

He also acknowledged the hard work of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation, concerned authorities, and other stakeholders in delivering needful services for families, especially the marginalised and vulnerable ones.

The Prime Minister outlined key recommendations for all the mentioned players to address remaining issues and better facilitate meaningful engagement of families in socio-economic development.
