Kampot: Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has reaffirmed the Kingdom’s foreign policy stance toward China and the international community, following the successful state visit of Chinese President H.E. Xi Jinping to Cambodia on April 17-18, 2025.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Kampot International Tourism Port in Teuk Chhou district, Kampot province, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet noted that Cambodia was one of only three countries selected for President Xi Jinping’s Southeast Asia tour. The Prime Minister emphasized the national pride this selection brings, asserting there is no issue with it.
The Prime Minister stated that Cambodia does not align itself exclusively with any single nation nor oppose another, reaffirming that the Kingdom’s foreign policy is rooted in engagement with all nations. He highlighted Cambodia’s commitment to maintaining relations with countries worldwide, grounded in respect for sovereignty, mutual respect, and non-interference in internal affairs. He emphasized that Cambodia is not dependent on any one nation.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also remarked that President Xi Jinping’s visit serves as a strong message to Cambodian politicians and analysts who had previously questioned the Royal Government’s international standing, even with China. He stated that the visit should dispel such speculation and represents a political message on its own, highlighting the strengthening of Cambodia-China bilateral cooperation for mutual benefit.
The Prime Minister announced the upgrading of bilateral cooperation to the Cambodia-China Community with a Shared Future in the New Era, which will serve as a guiding framework for deepening collaboration between the two countries. He further underlined China’s continued support for Cambodia’s infrastructure development, including assistance with the major Funan Techo Canal project.
