PM: Ensuring Social Justice, a Mechanism for Lasting Peace

Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has stated that ensuring social justice is a mechanism that will guarantee lasting peace in the society.

While presiding over the graduation ceremony of lawyer students of the Bar Association of the Kingdom of Cambodia, held here this morning, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said that the Royal Government will continue to support the process to ensure social justice in the country.

Samdech Thipadei added that the Royal Government of Cambodia spends some KHR 2,900 million (Cambodian currency roughly US$725,000) per year to guarantee the provision of legal assistance for poor and vulnerable people, especially women and children.

At the same time, the Royal Government has continued to promote judicial reform to ensure harmony and social justice, he reaffirmed.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also took the opportunity to express his appreciation for the role of the Bar Association of the Kingdom of Cambodia in guaranteeing social justic
e in the country.

Besides, the Premier explained about the necessity to take legal action on Aug. 18, 2024 to ensure peace. ‘On Aug. 18, a small number of opportunists wanted to use the people’s concerns (over Cambodian territory and sovereignty) and turn them into an excuse to overturn the Royal Government, so the Royal Government must take legal action to prevent the historical circle to reoccur,’ he stressed.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet expressed his gratitude to the public for their understanding of the real situation of Cambodia, and reiterated that the Royal Government needed to take action in order to ensure the public order, social stability, and normal lives of the majority of people.
