PM Congratulates Education Achievements

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has expressed his congratulations and support to the Kingdom’s education achievements.

While presiding over the closing ceremony of the annual meeting of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports held here at the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC) this afternoon, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said education sector remains the key priority of the Royal Government of Cambodia, and spoke highly of the development partners for their significant contribution to the development of Cambodia’s education.

The Premier also lauded the education reform to build human capital for the country development.

On the occasion, Samdech Techo Prime Minister gave a six-point recommendation in response to the education transformation in the country.

According to H.E. Hang Chuon Naron, Minister of Education, Youth, and Sports, for the 2022-2023 school year, Cambodia has a total of 8,607 kindergartens, 8,067 primary schools, 1,340 lower secondary schools and 816 high schools.

There are in total 3,676,575 students (49.7 percent are female), of them 380,788 are pre-school students, 2,200,021 are primary school students, 694,161 are lower secondary school students, and 401,605 are high school students, he said.

Besides, H.E. Minister added, Cambodia has 19 technical and vocational education institutions with a total of 3,259 students, and 132 higher education institutions – 48 public and 84 private institutions – located in 20 provinces and capital with 205,636 students, of them 47.5 percent are female.
