PM: Cambodia Not to Join Any Mechanism Opposing Any Other Country

Cambodia does not join any mechanism with a political character designed to compete or oppose any country or any bloc. This is Cambodia’s policy since the previous governments.

The remarks were re-emphaised by Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, while presiding over here this morning the celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Cambodia’s Accession to the World Trade Organisation (WTO).

But, the Premier continued, Cambodia will join a bloc or mechanism with a common aim of maintaining harmony, peace, prosperity in the region and promoting joint development.

‘Cambodia’s internal peace must be maintained, but peace in the region also needs to be maintained because it also involves Cambodia,’ said Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, taking for example the rise of rice and oil price due to the Russia-Ukraine war.

The Prime Minister added that Cambodia joins the mechanism to fight cross-border crime, but if it is set up to fight against any bloc or any country, Cambodia wil
l absolutely not participate in it. “We continue to be a member of the United Nations and ASEAN which contribute to maintaining peace and stability in the region,” he said.
