Sihanoukville International Half Marathon 2023 in Preah Sihanouk province has attracted the participation of more than 1,200 runners, including 170 foreign runners from 24 countries, according to Mr. Sem Phalla, the event organiser.
Preah Sihanouk Provincial Governor H.E. Kuoch Chamroeun presided over the event taking place at O’ Chheuteal Beach on April 2 under the theme “Run for protecting the nature, saving our globe and the well-being of mankind!”
The Sihanoukville International Half Marathon 2023, the 8th of its kind, was aimed to promote tourism, green environment, and beautiful beaches in Preah Sihanouk as well as to mobilise fund for charity work.
It also was a mechanism to attract more national and international tourists and to develop Cambodia’s sports as well as to raise funds for humanitarian activities.
Moreover, this sport event was part of the promotion and congratulation on Cambodia’s hosting role of the 32nd SEA Games and the 12th ASEAN Para Games in May and June respectively.
There were four races in the tournament including 21, 10, 5 and 3 kilometre running.
