Kep: The Techo Santepheap Angkol Beach Road in Kep province was put into official use this morning under the presidency of Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet. Located in Kep and Angkol villages, Angkol commune, Damnak Chang-er district, Kep province, the 12,645-metre-long road was constructed by KIRI Dangrek Construction Co., Ltd. and M.T.A Construction Co., Ltd., over a period of 24 months, from January 2022 to January 2024, with a total cost of approximately US$10 million. The project was financed by a concessional loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the budget of the Royal Government of Cambodia.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet congratulated the Kep people on the new achievement, emphasizing that the road will significantly contribute to attracting more national and international tourists to visit Kep coastal province. H.E. Peng Ponea, Minister of Public Works and Transport, highlighted that the Techo Santepheap Angkol Beach Road not only faci
litates travel and transport but also boosts tourism potential and other development projects along the beach.

The minister expressed gratitude to ADB and other stakeholders for their continued support of Cambodia’s development, particularly in the infrastructure sector. The inaugurated road is a sub-project of the Second Greater Mekong Subregion Tourism Infrastructure for Inclusive Growth Project, linking Kep provincial city to tourism and fishing communities in Angkol commune.

The other two sub-projects completed by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport under the same framework are a landfill with a capacity of storing more than 720,000 tonnes of garbage and Koh Tonsay tourism port. These projects are integral to transforming Kep province into a key tourism destination in line with the Kep Tourism Development Master Plan 2023-2035.
