Phnom Penh: H.E. Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC), recently received H.E. Vanlalvawna Bawitlung, the newly appointed Indian Ambassador to Cambodia, during a courtesy visit at the NBC Wat Phnom Building.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the meeting underscored the strong ties between Cambodia and India. H.E. Dr. Chea Serey discussed the progress of Cambodia’s economy, trade, and financial systems, emphasizing the development of a cross-border payment system between the two nations. This system aims to facilitate instant payments for tourists traveling between Cambodia and India.
Further, she highlighted the conducive environment for Indian investors in Cambodia, citing peace, political stability, and direct flights between Phnom Penh and New Delhi. She urged the Indian Ambassador to promote investment opportunities in Cambodia, particularly within financial institutions.
H.E. Vanlalvawna Bawitlung acknowledged the investment potential in Cambodia, emphasizing the promising opportunities in the banking sector. He commended Cambodia’s advanced payment system and expressed full support for the cross-border payment connection, which is expected to enhance tourism and bolster the economies of both countries.
