NBC Governor Meets Australian Ambassador


Phnom Penh: Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) H.E. Dr. Chea Serey received here on Jan. 14 H.E. Derek Yip, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Australia to the Kingdom of Cambodia.



According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, during the meeting, H.E. Ambassador praised the NBC governor’s efforts in promoting financial literacy and financial inclusion, especially in empowering women in economic activities. He also appreciated the modernity of digital payment services in Cambodia and highlighted the Australian government’s participation in various development programmes in Cambodia, including in the fields of education, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and capacity building.



For her part, H.E. Dr. Chea Serey recalled the good relations between the Cambodian and Australian governments and shared insights on the progress of Cambodia’s economy and financial system, including green finance. She also thanked the Australian government for providing scholarships for NBC’s officials and staff to study at universities in Australia and for supporting the project to promote financial literacy.
