Phnom Penh: Samdech Kitti Sangahapundit Men Sam An, President of the National Council of the Solidarity Front for Development of Cambodian Motherland, presided over a traditional blessing ceremony to invoke prosperity, happiness, and success for members, staff, and officials at the council’s headquarters.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the ceremony took place on April 8 afternoon at the council’s office in Phnom Penh. Ten Buddhist monks were invited to chant sacred verses, dedicating merits to ancestors and performing rituals to welcome the upcoming Khmer New Year-Year of the Snake.
As an annual tradition, the council organised the ceremony to honour the Khmer New Year, offering candles, incense, flowers, and other sacred items to the Triple Gem through Buddhist monks. The rituals included prayers for blessings, prosperity, and divine protection from the New Year’s deity, seeking good health, strength, wisdom, and longevity for all participants to continue contributing to the nation’s development.
In her remarks, Samdech Kitti Sangahapundit Men Sam An expressed gratitude for the unity between the leadership and officials of the council, as demonstrated by their participation in the ceremony. She highlighted the importance of collective efforts in fulfilling duties and wished for renewed success in serving the nation and its people.
The event highlighted the council’s commitment to cultural traditions and solidarity as Cambodia prepares to celebrate its traditional New Year.
