NA President Welcomes Courtesy Visit from Vietnamese Ambassador


Phnom Penh: Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly, received H.E. Nguyen Minh Vu, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam to Cambodia, during a courtesy visit on February 26.



According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Samdech Khuon Sudary emphasized the strong relationship between Cambodia and Viet Nam, describing them as “good neighbours, brothers, traditional friends, and strong long-term partners.” She highlighted the significance of bilateral exchanges across various sectors, including parliament, government, party, and social domains. She noted that this traditional friendship is central to the peace and prosperity of both nations, with both old and current generations valuing the longstanding partnership.



The Cambodian National Assembly President also pointed to the outcomes of the recent summit of top Party leaders from both countries in Ho Chi Minh City, which she described as pivotal in setting a direction for deep and resilient ties.



Ambassador Vu expressed his honor in serving in Cambodia, a country he admires for its historical and cultural richness. He emphasized the need for “more comprehensive cooperation with more substance and concrete results,” highlighting the critical role of Vietnamese investments in Cambodia’s socio-economic development, particularly through the telecommunications company Metfone.



The ambassador conveyed greetings from Viet Nam’s leadership, especially National Assembly Chairman H.E. Tran Thanh Man, who appreciated the arrangements for his upcoming visit to Cambodia in November.



Samdech Khuon Sudary reassured that Cambodia is “fully committed” to implementing the leadership decisions and consensus of the two countries. She also mentioned Cambodia’s intent to enhance trilateral relationships among Cambodia, Lao PDR, and Viet Nam. She stressed the need to intensify reforms to boost competitiveness and resilience, which will contribute to national peace and development.



Furthermore, Samdech Khuon Sudary highlighted the importance of connectivity, including people-to-people ties, and nurturing young generations in both countries to appreciate historical values. The meeting also included discussions on enhancing bilateral trade and investment cooperation.
