Cambodian Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) and Korean KUMHO-TECHCROSS Joint Venture have signed a contract agreement for the Sewage System Development in Ta Khmau Town Project.
The signing ceremony took place at the MPWT in Phnom Penh on Aug. 29. The signatories were H.E. PENG Ponea, Minister of MPWT, and Mr. Cho Wan-Seok, CEO of KUMHO-TECHCROSS Joint Venture.
On the occasion, H.E. PENG Ponea appreciated MPWT leaders, Kandal provincial administration and project stakeholders for their attention to the project financed by the Export-Import Bank of the Republic of Korea, and thanked the Korean government for its active participation in supporting Cambodia’s public works and transport sectors through the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF).
The minister also mentioned about MPWT’s effort to boost and issue subsequent mechanisms for priority tasks such as infrastructure development (roads and bridges); road, rail and waterway transport; especially sewage infrastructure development, addin
g that the management of wastewater treatment system was precisely defined in the Royal Government’s Pentagonal Strategy with a focus on waste management, storage and processing, and the expansion of drainage and sewage system.
H.E. PENG Ponea also instructed all stakeholders and competent authority to pay close attention to technical work and provide close collaboration to ensure this project run effectively and successfully as planned.
According to MPWT, the Sewage System Development in Ta Khmau Town Project includes a wastewater treatment plant with the wastewater treatment capacity of 12,000 cubic metres a day, seven wastewater pumping stations, 125-kilometre-long sewer network, 5.3-kilometre-long rainwater drainage, and so on.
