MoU Signed to Promote E-Scooters in Cambodia


Phnom Penh: The Ministry of Environment, the Global Green Development Institute (GGGI), and Korea’s VERYWORDS company have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to promote the use of electric vehicles to contribute to reducing greenhouse gases and toxic emissions in the environment in Cambodia.



According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the MoU was signed on February 7 between H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Minister of Environment, and representatives from GGGI and Korea’s VERYWORDS Company. During the event, H.E. Eang Sophalleth highlighted the investment from the Korean company as a demonstration of the strong cooperation between Cambodia and the Republic of Korea, aimed at furthering development.



H.E. Sophalleth expressed appreciation for the investment in electric vehicles, emphasizing its role in environmental protection and climate change prevention by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, particularly those from fossil fuel usage. This aligns with the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC)’s policy to encourage and promote investment in Cambodia. The RGC is focused on environmental protection, aiming for cleanliness, greenness, and sustainability to achieve Cambodia’s vision of becoming a carbon-neutral country by 2050.



The cooperation is a testament to the RGC’s efforts to maintain peace, political stability, and development, alongside its commitment to addressing climate change at both national and global levels. At the signing ceremony, VERYWORDS company contributed 8,000 e-scooters to the Ministry of Environment, marking a significant step in this environmental initiative.
