Phnom Penh: More daycare centres will be established at factories and enterprises to help taking care of female workers’ babies while they work, which is in line with the Royal Government of Cambodia’s concept. Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet raised the plan at the inauguration ceremony of a Daycare Centre of Marvel Garment Co., Ltd. located in the Royal Group Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone in Khan Pursenchey, Phnom Penh this morning.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Prime Minister highlighted that this initiative is in progress, with plans for further expansion. In the future, factories and enterprises with 100 employees or more will be mandated to have a daycare centre in accordance with the Labour Law of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
Furthermore, the Premier emphasized that establishing daycare centres in factories and enterprises is a significant investment, as female workers and their children are considered part of the company, factory, and enterprise family.
Additionally, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet advised against setting up daycare centres near factory production lines to avoid affecting the health of infants.
The Prime Minister also reiterated the commitment of the 7th-mandate Royal Government to continue implementing policies in support of workers, especially pregnant workers, during their pregnancy and after delivery until their babies reach two years old.
