Phnom Penh: A black pepper sales contract worth US$700,000 was officially signed between the Mrech Memut Thbong Khmum Modern Agricultural Community and FUCHS Cambodia, as confirmed by H.E. Khim Finan, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, on Mar. 27.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Khim Finan stated that the Mrech Memut Thbong Khmum community will supply 100 tonnes of black pepper at a fixed price of US$7 per kilogramme for safety-certified standard pepper-a rate approximately 10 percent higher than the average market price.
“We congratulate and celebrate this achievement for our community members,” H.E. Undersecretary of State added.
Notably, the Mrech Memut Thbong Khmum Modern Agricultural Community comprises 65 families and cultivates nearly 100 hectares of pepper farmland. It is the first modern pepper community established and directly supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries.
