Mobile Photo Contest Launched Ahead of New Year

The Ministry of Information and a leading consumer electronics manufacturer, Oppo, have kicked off a mobile photo contest called 'SEE CAMBODIA 2024' to profile the country and attract tourists. Minister of Information H.E. Neth Pheaktra, who chaired the launch of the photo competition on April 10, considered it a well-timed event as Cambodia is anticipating the Khmer New Year late this week. The people will travel the country during the New Year celebration, so it will be a great opportunity for them to capture attractive photos to take part in the challenge, he said. They will tweet and post those photos through various social media platforms that will eventually contribute to promoting Cambodia's culture, tradition, as well as tourism. The initiative, he added, will also enrich the photo archives of Cambodia. Echoing the insights of the Minister, a well-rounded photographer, Mr. Miller Snap called on ethical photography to mitigate the downside of the material, especially when the photos are shared on line. According to Mr. Touch Seang Uy (Steven), Planning Manager of OPPO Representative in Cambodia, all of the themes of the photo competition are related to tourism and culture in Cambodia. To participate, interested smart device users can take photos and submit them via the Oppo web page, and the details of the challenge are also accessible on the site. The top five winners will be awarded a certificate of recognition and a smart device each, along with cash prize of four million, one million, 500,000, 200,000, and 100,000 riels, respectively.
