Phnom Penh: The Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction (MLMUPC) has announced plans to conduct a study for the construction of a running track and cycleway along the beach, extending from Kep province to Koh Kong province.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the plan was disclosed by Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet at the inauguration ceremony of the Techo Santepheap Angkol Beach Road in Kep. The new road, measuring 12,645 meters in length, serves as a significant infrastructural development for the region.
The Prime Minister emphasized the unique potential of Cambodia’s coastal provinces, suggesting that a cycleway project could enhance both recreational and health opportunities. He noted that individuals could potentially ride bikes from Phnom Penh to Kep, continuing their journey to other provinces, thereby promoting tourism and well-being.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also highlighted the various infrastructural achievements that have contributed to Cambodia’
s economic growth during the initial 15 months of the 7th-mandate Royal Government. The proposed cycleway and running track could further bolster these developments by attracting visitors and providing new avenues for local economic activity.
Cambodia’s coastline, which spans approximately 450 kilometers through the provinces of Kep, Kampot, Preah Sihanouk, and Koh Kong, offers a picturesque setting that could be enhanced by the proposed project, providing both locals and tourists with a new way to experience the country’s natural beauty.
