Phnom Penh: The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, and the World Food Programme (WFP) have discussed the government’s continued support to sustain the school feeding programme. The discussion took place between H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, and Ms. Claire Conan, WFP Country Director in Cambodia.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron reaffirmed that the government will continue to support the WFP in implementing the school feeding programme for 2024-2028 and spoke of the WFP’s contribution to carrying out the work smoothly. The programme is crucial in supporting the government’s vision to develop the intellectual and physical ability of Cambodian children to excel in their studies.
The minister also highlighted that the utilisation of local agricultural produce under the programme aids in enhancing the community’s economic growth and building a sustainable, prosperous, and inclusive society. Ms. Claire Conan appreciated the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports for its cooperation with the WFP, considering it a wise and efficient investment in Cambodia’s human resource development.
