Ministry of Information Donates 100 Million Riel from ‘Run for Charity’ Event to Cambodia Kantha Bopha Foundation


Phnom Penh: The Ministry of Information, through its branch of the Cambodian Women for Peace and Development Association, has donated 100 million Riel (approximately US$25,000) to the Cambodia Kantha Bopha Foundation. The funds were raised during the ‘Run for Charity’ event held on Mar. 15, 2025, to support the health and well-being of children and infants in Cambodia.



According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the donation ceremony, led by Lok Chumteav Tuy Serey Ratanak, Honorary President of the Cambodian Women for Peace and Development Association at the Ministry of Information, took place at Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospital this morning. It was attended by Mr. Zheng Xian Jiang, President of ASEANTOP News, along with several associates.



The ‘Run for Charity,’ initiated by H.E. Minister Neth Pheaktra and organised in collaboration with ASEANTOP News, was held at the Eco Park Garden within the Grand Star Platinum Eco Collection of Peng Huoth Group’s Boeung Snor area. The event successfully raised 100 million Riel, all of which was donated to the Cambodia Kantha Bopha Foundation to enhance healthcare services for Cambodian children and infants.



The race’s opening ceremony was presided over by H.E. Minister Neth Pheaktra and Lok Chumteav Tuy Serey Ratanak, with participation from ministry leaders, civil servants, the general public, private sector representatives, media outlets, and various sponsors. Some 1,700 participants, including individuals from 17 different nationalities, joined the run, covering distances of 4.4 kilometres and 6.6 kilometres. Beyond the race, attendees also enjoyed over 20 product exhibition stalls.



H.E. Minister Neth Pheaktra emphasised that the event aimed to raise funds for the Kantha Bopha Foundation while promoting social well-being. He noted the overwhelming public support, stating, ‘Under the umbrella of peace and development, this marathon has provided an opportunity for people to come together through sports, embodying the slogan ‘Sports Thrive in Peace.” He encouraged citizens, especially the youth, to engage in sports alongside their work and studies to foster physical health, strengthen relationships, and build camaraderie.



During the event, H.E. Minister Neth Pheaktra expressed his gratitude to all participants, including Cambodian citizens, foreign guests, and private companies, for their generous contributions. He specifically acknowledged the support of sponsors such as Huawei Cambodia, ASEANTOP News, CCIA Members, FTB Bank, Peng Huoth Group, Dynamic, Midas, Honor, P.P.M, Terratex, Pocari Sweat, Vital, Mee Cheat, Starbalm Gel, Chek Piseth, and various media partners, whose involvement elevated the event’s vibrant atmosphere.



The ‘Run for Charity’ stands as a testament to the power of collective action in supporting humanitarian causes and fostering a healthier, more connected society in Cambodia.
